Trendy Hand Painted Tableware

Updated: Jun 18, 2023

Have you ever experienced that phenomenon when you newly discover something you suddenly start seeing it everywhere? It might have been there all along and you are just noticing or you might be at the start of a new trend.

After seeing some amazing hand painted tableware last summer I now see them in every independent shop window and between the pages of each magazine. So incase you want to also be seeing excellent plates and bowls everywhere this summer, including on your own table, check out my favourites.

Marguerite Lilac & Red Plate £40

I first saw Vaisselle at a digital South London Makers Market (now called Salad Days) only to now see her pieces filling a table in Liberty rather regularly, though there are drops on the website to look out for. They are designed in London, handmade in Spain and magically take you to somewhere warm and fun with the lovely choices of hues & summer patterns.

Green Scallop Bowl £25

A couple of different simple patterns to choose from to build up your table. This scallop bowl really does work for everything from pasta to dolce. Their ceramic stock goes fast thanks to a mention in Stylist by interior expert Laura Jackson (now has a column in Elle Decoration UK) but I am sure you can add them to your basket.

Amalfi Oval Dish £65

Now this is a cheeky addition, not from designer I knew but from a shop I trust. Divertimenti, the premium cookshop expert you can find in West London with the largest collection of ceramic tableware I have every seen. Get inspired by the Amalfi coast and make Italian, then invite me over. Plus whilst your browsing check out Wonkiware they are the largest UK stockist of this ethical South African brand which always surprises me.

Isolation Face Plate £140

Another random find through the lovely Bricks n Mortar store (I have never step foot in but really want too) LAMP/LDN, KS Creative offer more conventional stripes but also some expressive face designs that will hurt your bank balance but will definitely make a statement.

Large Blue Striped Plate £38

I am just mildly obsessed with spotting Casa Cubista out in the wild, a lovely Portuguese brand that is all bold strokes and strong shapes. I believe no UK online shop just yet but you can find them in a few of my favourite independents including Abode down in Brighton, the formally mentioned LAMP/LDN, London and somewhere who loves them as much as me and is full of tips to style them in your home is Style your Spaces, Edinburgh a creative studio worth following.

Anna Green Reserve Dinner Plate $50

A recent addition to my list of yummy summer ready dining. I find that textile designers imagine some of the best ceramic prints. Carolina along with her two talented daughters have created many beautiful collections that are inspired from their travels around the globe. Made in Portugal and hand painted this tableware is a lovely blend of traditional and trendy.
